Comments:

Tree grows to approximate 20m tall. Bark is greyish, orange-red below surface. Young shoots stout, green to greyish yellow-brown or orange. Young shoots stout, green to greyish yellow brown or orange. Cones ovoid, mostly 6-10cm long, 4-6cm wide, the tip of the scales with transverse ridge; stalk absent or short.

Pinus brutia differs from Pinus halepensis in its longer leaves, in broader cones that spread at right angles to the branch, also the cone stalk is absent or very short, the branchlets are not so thin or densely divided and the crown is never flat as frequently occurs on old trees of Pinus halepensis
